ANIMAZE – Tricia – 2018 

Ross has had an amazing opportunity to get up close with Tricia from Perth Zoo and sketch her at life size in the Fremantle Arts Centre as a part of Animaze, Fremantle Art Centre’s very first art exhibition designed for children .

Potter will be working on his sketch live in the gallery for the duration of the show.

Animaze closes 23rd of January 2019

 

 

WHALE – 2017

Just off the coast of Fremantle, the colossal migration route of the humpback whale intersects with the Gage Roads channel, to the East of Wadjemup (Rottnest) Island. One of these gentle giants and long distance travellers will be rendered with detailed accuracy, at a fully life-size scale by West Australian artist Ross Potter Witness this West End humpback as it is progressively revealed in graphite on paper panels over the course of the sixteen days.

Potter’s self portrait “10 years” is a finalist in the 2017 Black Swan Portrait Prize, opening on November 11 2017 at the Art Gallery of WA.

JOONDALUP COMMUNITY INVITATION ART AWARDS – 2017

Potter is one of 15 artists invited to exhibit at the Joondalup Community Invitation Art Awards in 2017. For the awards he has created a new series of works based on his exploration of Joondalup Lake.

 

CATCHING THUNDER – 2017

Catching Thunder is Potter’s latest large scale graphite sketch for Mundaring Arts Centre’s HABITS OF HORSES project, which will be exhibited Sunday, Aug 27 to Sunday, Sep 24, 2017 at the Midland Junction Arts Centre.

HORSE DRAWN celebrates the equine form through traditional drawing skills and contemporary digital drawing methods and includes an artist-in-residence program, an exhibition of artworks by WA artists Steven Aiton, Daevid Anderson, Daniela Dlugocz, Jenny Haynes, Ross Potter, Angela Stewart and Linda van der Merwe, an exhibition of art work created in community art workshops, floor talks and demonstrations.
